Jenkins COVID Update, Wednesday, October 6

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Jenkins Jr./Sr. High School was hit hard by the COVID-19 virus this week as I am sure most of you are aware. Our volleyball team was hit especially hard as at least six (6) athletes have tested positive and all three teams have had to quarantine from school and athletics. We have had to cancel the two non-league games for our JV and C teams next week. The varsity games are up in the air dependent upon some variables.

There were some negative social media comments the last few days regarding specific staff members who assist me with COVID-19 data entry, paperwork processing, and parent contacts. I assure you that she is consistently following our district procedures as directed. She has a very difficult job and remains professional, confidential and kind at all times. Please be kind in return. She is only following my directives as outlined by our local and stated health guidelines.

If you have any questions about protocol and procedures please don't hesitate to call me.

We had over 65 students affected by contact tracing with COVID positive students, many of which now have symptoms. Remember, we quarantine students to protect all students including student who are health compromised, staff who are vulnerable, etc. We know that most students who are infected will face mild symptoms and be back to school 100%, however, we must take precautions for all.

Please remind your students when working remotely that they are required to log into CANVAS to access their daily lessons.

Thank you for understanding.

Shawn Anderson, Principal
