Update for Cougar and Raider Athletics

Dear Cougar Athletics families:

First, I want to welcome you back to school and to sports.  While neither scenario looks exactly as we would like, I am hopeful that both daily instruction and athletic competition will eventually return to normal.  I am attaching a video from the WIAA which specifically address why Washington has adjusted our seasons for 2020-21.  Please view it, as I think it gives a good overview of the stance taken by the WIAA to keep athletes, coaches, and fans as safe as possible.  https://vimeo.com/456705781

This year's calendar of seasons looks very different as well.  Please know that the offering of sports competition by the WIAA is dependent upon phases of opening.  We will know more as the advent of the seasons approaches.  The 2020-21 WIAA sports seasons are listed below:

Season 1 - alternative high school season

Season 2:  12/28-2/28 - Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling

Season 3:  3/1-5/2:  Volleyball, Cross Country, Competitive Cheer, Football (2/17-5/9)

Season 4:  4/28-6/27:  Track & Field, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Golf

The full calendar can be viewed here:

Please know that CSD coaches are not allowed to officially sponsor practices or training sessions as long as our district is engaged in remote learning.  Some districts are allowing sports teams to meet during the "fall contact period," 9/28-11/27.  But our superintendent has made it clear that no school sponsored activities will occur as long as students are learning from home.  If that situation changes, I will inform you as soon as I know.

Thank you for your patience as we work through the many challenges we are currently facing.

Sincerely,

Shirley Baker
